Dear readers, you might be hesitating: So where my donations go? They went to the World Food Programme (WFP) and the Pack Sanctuary in Taiwan. Interviewed Hannah, one of the organizers for this charity week. When students make their donations they were asked which organizations they would like to contribute to. At the end of the day, the money will be contributed accordingly to the participant’s request.
What’s the WFP about? WFP was founded in 1961. They send food to the victims who are involved in natural disasters and wars in an emergency. Their vision is to provide food at any time for those who are in need for a living. WFP collaborates with their twin sister ‘United Nations agencies’ in Rome which is the Food & Agriculture Organization (FAO), the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), NGO partners and other government programmes.
As for the Pack Sanctuary in the Northern part of Taiwan, they concentrates in rescuing animals that are in danger. Pack Sanctuary was founded by Sean McCornmack and their vision is to never give up on any animals. Currently they have 3 sanctuary locations with the number of 240 injured dogs. The volunteers give their best care and treatment to the animals to reduce their illness by living a healthy lifestyle. The animals have a good environment with spacious field and they are given appropriate diet. On the other hand, Pack Sanctuary also rescues pigs, birds and squirrels. Soon they will be accepting a large amount of deer to be rescued as cruelty on deer has been increased.
